Authority has been grnnted by the Tramways Committee for the preparation of plans and specifications by the city building suiveyor for extensions to the tramway workshops and offices. The extensions are required to give increased facilities to the workshops and store, and also permit, of the extension of the motormen’s room and the revenue office. The existing facilities for these branches of the department are inadequate. The cost of the work has been provided for in tho tramwayj loan of £IOO,OOO, but it is proposed that the amount be paid out of revenue account. Tenders for the work will be obtained and a report thereon submitted to the council in due course.
