BANKRUPTCY RETURNS.
THE YEAR’S TOTAL. WELLINGTON, May 4 During the year ended March 31 last 691 petitions in bankruptcy were filed in New Zealand. The unluckiest montlis were July and October, both of which saw 73 failures. In January, 30 petitions were filed as follows:—14 in Auckland, 10 in Wellington, 3 in Christchurch, and 3 in Dunedin. In February there vn-re 59 failures—2B being filed in Auckland, 22 in Wellington, 6 in Christchurch, and 3 in Dunedin. Tho total for March was 67, Auckland claiming 28, Wellington 18, Christchurch 16, and Dunedin
