LUCKY EVENING VISITOR.

GATHERING OF THE CLANS. The distribution of two interim prizes, each marking the passing of a 50,000 attendance mark in two consecutive days was a remarkable Exhibition achievement that was not expected by even the most optimistic official at Logan Park. Yet it was done in the evening, and had the weather been fine throughout the day the wniner would have been found amongst the afternoon visitors. A Dunedin man—Mr A. Duncan, of Jackson street, St. Kilda—was the lucky 2,950,000 th. Walking with the aid of a stout stick, he kept his place in the queue, and was greeted with a cheer when the general manager, Mr C. P. Hainsworth, gave the signal. “I never expected anything like this," said Mr Duncan when the welcome £5 was presented. “I did not know the competition was this evening until I found myself nearly squashed in the crowd outside the gates.” Mr Duncan is a season ticket-holder and an enthusiastic Exhibition supporter. A doubtful day was followed by a fine, mild evening, and after the 2,950,000 visitor had entered the crowd streamed in throughout the early part of the evening, moving towards the Festival Hall, the

Amusements Park, and the pavilion*. The Exhibition Orchestra played in tin’ New. Zealand Secondary Industries Pavilion.
