AUCKLAND ELECTIONS.
INACCURATE VOTING PAPERS. AUCKLAND, May 4. It is possible that the official count of the votes in the City Council election will not b© final. Mr R. F. Barter, one of the unsuccessful Labour candidates, alleges that some of the ballot papers contained an error in the spelling of his name. Mr Barter stated this evening that on some, but not ali. 01 the papers his name was given as “Ricnard French Beaten,” tho surname being the same as that of Miss A. H. G. Basten, another unsuccessful candidate. The matter will be brought before the Auckland Labour Representation Committee at its meeting on Wednesday evening. In the meantime Barter states that he is taking no action. He must Jbavo lost a number of votes for the reason that his surname did not appear on the incorrect papers.
