AN ENORMOUS SUP.
MANAWATU GORGE ROAD BLOCKED. WELLINGTON, August 2. Advice has been received that the Manawatu Gorge road is blocked by an enormous slip. Slips earlier in the week were cleared away, but now another has occurred at the eastern end where road widening is in progress. The road is likely to be closed indefinitely. A large slip has also fallen on the top of the hill on the Akatarawa road, which is now much used as a short cut from Palmerston to the Hutt Valley.
