WELLINGTON NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Wellington, May 14. Rapine returned from Sydney yesterday ana was railed through to Hastings to-day. He is to be spelled until the bpring. The Wellington-owned horses, Dominant and Kuhio, arrived from Auckland last week and have gone into G. Jones’s stable at irentham. Tliey are entered at Otaki. Jones went through to Hastings on Saturday to consult with Jifr Lowry. lie has returned and informed your correspondent that he had nothing to report. John M. Cameron returned from Sydney yesterday with The Hawk, Molyneux. and •Egyptian Flower, who have been racing on the other side. He also brought back an imported horse named Tunbridge, purchased from Mr E. J. Watt. Cameron went through to Hastings to-dav where the horses are to be turned out. George Price, who has a stable full of horses at Rundwick, is ever ior a short holiday. He will do the Wanganui meeting and return in about ten days. the North Island contingent that raced at Blenheim did fairly well, although they failed to win the cup, which went to Gamecock. Askari, who won the principal event on the second day, is engaged at Wanganui. Martinique did not come back, havmg been disposed of at auction for ouigns. 11. McSweeney has his injured arm out ot the slings, and expects to ride Tin Route at Wanganui. Mr Gordon Pulton, who sold some mares at the Sydney sales, purchased a colt by Buexwheat. He arrived yesterday and was shipped soutn. Mr lan Duncan, the Waikanao studmaster, returned from Sydney yesterday. Hie twelve Boniform youngsters he sent across averaged 789gns, "which must be considered very satisfactory. 'Hie nominations received for the Otaki meeting total a hundred more than last year. Ihcre are fifty engaged in the liuia Handicap, the principal event on tli° second day. Stream scored his sixth win at Blenheim, and will i n future have to compete in open company. Hie nominations for the hack hurdle events at Otaki include Admiral Codrington. Kmsem and Soitanello. The latter did not shape too well m his first school at 1 rerun am.
