ACCIDENT TO MOLDAVIA. LONDON, June 4. The Moldavia met with an accident to one of her propeller shafts. She is proceeding with one engine, and will oe nearly a week late in arriving at London ; but her mails were transferred to the Karmala, and were delivered to-dav. SYDNEY, June 4. Slight reductions are foreshadowed in fares to England by the Conference Lines. It is understood that the Peninsular and Orient, Aberdeen, and Blue Funnel Lines intend reducing the first class fares from £ll4 to £llO, and the second class fares from £B7 to £B2. The alterations will apply also to bookings from Sydney via New Zealand. Commencing with the Moldavia’s voyage in September, the Peninsular Line intends to eliminate Bombay from the run, with a view to accelerating the mail service to Australia. The Orient Line intends to abolish its second class accommodation, commencing with the Ormuz, and to provide more accommodation in the first and third classes. It is proposed to reduce the first class fares.
