WELLINGTON NOTES.
(From Odr Own Correspondent.) May 31. The Wellington Racing Club was successful in its application for a third day for the Winter meeting. The gathering will be held on July 7, 11, and 14, and the stakes will be the same as last year. Hie Steeplechase of 15O0sovs, will be on the opening day, and the Hurdles, of loOOsovs, on the last day. The club expects some southern horses to assist. Trentham tramer J. W. Lowe this week received cable advice from Mr J. B. Reid in England that he had purchased on his behalf the promising two-year-old colt M 7 ild Peach Blossom, bv Roselaiul (William the Third—Electric Rose), full brother to Roseworthy, who is at the stud in New Soufii Wales. ’
] R. J. Mason has left for Sydney by the Ulimaroa with seven horses, the four that i are to race and three that are in the private | sale list. Lingerie and her eoit foal by’ Absurd and the brood mare Hikoia were also shipped by the same boat, which is the favourite one with shippers of horses. Recently it was reported that IT. J. Jeft'erd was taking a team of half a dozen horses across to Sydney for the Winter meeting's. The announcement that Mr A. B. Williams was selling all his horses comes as a great surprise. 7 here should be some competition for Rapine. Mr Andrew Robertson goes to Sydney by the Ulimaroa, and will have about a fortnight in Melbourne before catching the Ventura at Sydney on June 27. He informs me that Air Sol Green has authorised him to spend up to 25,00050 vs in the purchase of blood stock on his behalf. The annual meeting of the New Zealand j Racing Conference will be held in Weiling- | ton ori July 12. With reference lo the mixing up of two 1 fillies in England, a local writer points out j that there was a similar case in the South I Island some years ago. Mr Duncan Rutheri ford purchased two chestnut fillies by | Stepniak trf the Eldcrslie sale. They made , their first appearance in the Lyttelton Plate lat Riccarton. lhe Armigera filly (lngoda) ! ran first, and the Miss Niente filly (Zemlia) | last. They were mixed up, and the lngoda i filly was distanced. Sir George Clifford got first money with Ploughshare.
