ANZAC DAY.

ITS FUTURE OBSERVANCE. AUCKLAND, May 25. Replying to a deputation from the Soldiers’ Mothers’ League, which asked that the observance of Anzac Day be transferred from April 25 to the Sunday prior to that date, Mr Massey said he was not going to give any pledge on the matter, as there were two sides to the question, and the loss of wages, which the deputation said could be ill afforded by tho earners of small wages, required serious consideration. He would see that the suggestion wag taken up in Parliament and discussed. He had taken part in the last Anzac Day observance in Christchurch, and it was the best ceremony of the kind he had ever seen. He liked to think that the day would be observed in that way all over New Zealand sacredly and satisfactorily.
