BREWERY AMALGAMATION.

CHRISTCHURCH COM PA NIES FAVOURABLE. CHRISTCHURCH, May 27. The proposals relating to the amalgamation of the principal breweries of the dominion were placed before a meeting of shareholders of Messrs Ward and Co. yesterday, and the proposition was agreed to. The Chairman stated that at a meeting held in Wellington, attended by tho directors of the principal brewery concerns in New Zealand, an agreement had been signed in favour of amalgamation on the basis that each concern represented should sell out its plant, stock, promises, and goodwill to the Amalgamated Breweries of New Zealand. The shareholders of the Crown Brewery, Ltd. and Messrs S. Manning and Co. (Ltd.), hold meetings to-morrow to consider the proposition.
