The first of the current season’s wool sales was held to-day in the presence of a full bench of buyers, including representatives from Bradford, the Continent, America., and tho dominion’s mills. For all classes there was animated competition, a good clearance being effected at prices on a par with the enhanced prices ruling at the recent sale in Christchurch. The following is the range of prices:- Merino, 21d to 22Jd; halfbred, 15id to 23W; threequarterbred, 9*d to 19id; crossbred. 7id to D.24d; Corriedale, 18d to 23|d; lengwool, 84d to lid; pieces—merino 174 d to 264 d. halfbred 83d to 203<f, threc-quarterbred to 113 d. crossbred Bd, Corriedale 15|d to 20d; locks. 44d to 10id; crutch mgs, 4’4'd to 74d ; bellies, s»d to 154 d.
