(From Our Own Correspondent.' December 20. The imported yearlings belonging to Mr Vivian Riddiford, which are being broken in at Trentham, nay be trained by F. Quinlivan, who at present lias Kalston tinder his care. After the C.J.C. meeting Mr Nicholls offered Many Kittle to the local agent of a Melbourne firm (that failed to get Bonnie Winkie for India) for 20C0gs. The negotiations at the other end took some time to fix up, and last week when instructions came through to complete the purchase, Mr Nicholls had changed his mind, and refused to sell. Mr Eric Riddiford will probably lie represented at the Martou meeting ,b w Ma Broughal and Kaika. H. Cairns, the New Zealand rider now domiciled in Melbourne, came across from Sydney by the Tahiti, and put in three days' here on the way to Auckland to ride Insurrection in the Cup. After riding at Trentham, he will return to Melbourne. He reports that the New Zealanders on the other side are all doing well.
