An Aucklander now residing in Fiji writing by the mail which arrived on the Navua at Auckland, states that he had just come back from Mokogai, the- leper island. He saw the Samoans the New Zealand Government, sent there. They looked well and seemed happy. One of the sisters told the visitor that when they arrived they were the worst-looking cases she had seen in her many years’ experience. However, they are clean now, and though t lie cases are too far gone for a cure, they are more or less content. It is a beautiful place they live in, and they have their own 1 iftie village, presided over bv their head men. Large numbers of people have taken the advantage of having the electric light installed in their homes (writes our JCai tangala correspondent). Many more would do so, but the Borough Council has not yet completed arrangements for the erection of the poles.
