WELLINGTON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Printemps was accepted for in the Horowhenua Oup. but is hardly likely to get back from the south in time to compete at Levin. Owing to the elate of the Woodville meeting clashing- with the General Election it has been altered to Saturday and Monday, December 9 and 11. Blackmail, who competed unsuccessfully at Riccarton, is to race at Horosvhewua. She will he accompanied by Militaire and Vindictive. When ihe ferry boats stopped running some of the North Island sports came up by the Wakatu, while others motored to Picton and came across the Straits in a launch. The return of the North Island horses that ran at Riccarton was delayed for a few days. It all depends on the way Amythas shapes in the Horowhenua Cup as to whether he will fulfill his engagements at Auckland. Ihe Alauawatu Racing Club has reduced the stakes for the Christmas meeting bv £2600. The Wellington Racing- flub has decided that the stakes for the Summer meeting will not be reduced, and will again give £15,100 away. It is expected that some Otago and Southland owners will again patronise the fixture. Satisfactory acceptances have been received for the Ashhursi meeting, to be held on the®22nd inst. Although tile Masterton spring meeting resulted m a loss the Carterton Club came out with a profit of £25-0 over its one day meeting, which must be regarded as satisfactory. r lho army of workmen at Trentham are making satisfactory progress with the new official stand, which is expected to be ready m time for the Cup meeting.
