LIGHTING OF QUEENSTOWN

ELECTRIC SCHEME PROPOSED. (Fbom Ocb Own Correspondent.! QUEENSTOWN, March 25. A public meeting was held last evening fo consider a proposal to light the town by generating power from One Mile Creek, and in this connection to consider an offer from Mr W. H. Paterson, of Oamaru, to instal an electric plant. An alternative was that Mr Paterson should run the plant for four or five years and sell the current to the borough at a fixed price, the council then having the option to purchase. The meeting authorised the council to have a survey made and the plans drawn up, when the scheme will be submitted to the ratepayers. An approximate estimate sets down the capital cost at £6OOO.
