DANCER IN WATER CAS.

FREQUENT CAUSE OF POISON. LONDON, January 24. The abnormal number of deaths due to gas poisoning is directing attention to the dangers of carbon monoxide in domestic gas, due to the increased proportion of water gas. The potency of carbon monoxide as a poison has also led to an alarming epidemic of gas suicides, including that of a beautiful social butterfly well known in West End high life. The Times, in a leader commenting on the subject, points out that water gas contains 42 per cent, of carbon monoxide compared with 6 per cent, in coal gas. The Times adds that deaths from gas poisoning have increased both in Britain and the United States pari passu with the increase in the practice of diluting gas supplies with water gas. Though deaths from carbon monoxide noisoning have long been increasing, they have become extraordinarily frequent lately.
