SUPERINTENDENT DWYER.
welling ion, August 12. In referring to the changes in the personnel of the commissioner officers of the Police Force to-day, the Minister of Justice (pic 11011. la. P. l.eo) incidentally mentioned the retirement of Superintendent Dwyer, of the Christchurch station, after 43 years’ service. Mr Lee said it was with much regret he was not able to attend the presentation the Christchurch citizens made to Superintendent Dwyer, as the gathering took place just prior to his return to New Zealand from Samoa. Superintendent Dwyer, lie said, had had a long and honourable career in the Police Force of the dominion. and in the different capacities in which he had served he had had to deal with many important police matters, and from a knowledge of bis work, he could say that Superintendent Dwyer had rendered loyal and valuable -service to the L< ii'-o Department and to the dominion.
