“ At W anganui I found one Chinaman employe. g four Europeans,” remarked Mr A. Collins (set rotary of the Wellington Gardeners’ Employees’ Union) at the Conciliation Council. Mr Collins added that tite - ’hinaman paid the Europeans lbs per dry for eight hours’ work, and he (the Oriental) had raid that each of the four men did as much as two Chinamen.
