The allegation that every Labour candidate for election in the city of Christchurch is compelled to pledge himself to stand against everything Imperial was made by the Rev. Howard Elliott at a recent meeting (states an exchange). Mr Elliott said that he could produce the evidence of per* sons who had seen tho pledges referred to, and of others who had been asked to affix their signatures to it.
