NEW YEAR DISTURBANCES.

SIXTEEN NATIVES CHARGED. GISBORNE, Alarch 1. As a sequel to the New Year disturbance at Te Araroa, 16 Natives were charged with having assembled for an unlawful purpose-. The informations were dismissed. Two others, charged with an assault causing bodily harm to a publican, were committed for trial. Another Native, charged with hitting a Native girl on the head with ft beer bottle, was remanded, the police stating that it was a serious case.
