IRISH MURDER CAMPAIGN

HOW SINN FEIN WAGES WAR (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, December 10. During the recent raids in Ireland documents were captured which supply amazing evidence of how the Sinn Fein murder campaign is conducted, and give undisputed proof of the cool and calculated brutality of the Irish “gunmen.” and their chiefs. One republican army order refers to barrack defence, and says: “In quiet districts barracks might easily be rushed on Sundays when men are at divine service. This should be provided for. It may be assumed, now that the enemy is getting the worst of it in the disturbed areas, we will try attacks on police both on and off duty in quiet districts.” LAND MINES AND SMOKE SCREENS. A weekly report of the Engineering Department states that the staff is working on wireless receiving apparatus, a land mine, drawing up syllabus of lectures and field work for a week’s instruction for county engineers; and Brixton and Portland Gaols. Another weekly report says: Engaged oil following works—construction of contact mine model; experiments on smoke screen; experiments with “infernal machine” ; preparing lectures for engineers; preparing design for bomb thrower, working drawings under consideration; survey made a-ncl plans being preps red for demolition work, North and South Quays, in connection with munition strike—in case same are required; Limerick court-martial. CU TTIN G CO M.MU NIC ATI 0N S. A special memorandum with regard to telegraph communication reads: “You will take immediate steps to assure that you are in a position to cut off all telegraph and telephone communication with the undermentioned places within two hours after the receipt by you at any time in tho future of an instruction to that effect. An efficient machinery for this purpose should be outlined without delay, and when this has been done the certificate at the foot ox this instruction should lie signed and returned.” DASTARDLY REVENGE. Another order shows how a murder campaign was organised against numbers of the R.I.C. and their officers following upon the death of the late Lord Mayer of Cork. This order says: “Oxierations Memorandum No. 1 (to be destroyed immediately and transmitted verbally to all officers). The R.I.C. have made themselves a great determining factor in the actual killing of the Lord Mayor of Cork, a considerable number of them leaving signed a memorial that if the Lord Mayor is released they will lay clown their arms. Y’ou will arrange at once that in the event of the Lord Mayor’s death, immediately after his funeral tlie worst of the R.I.C. in each barracks in vou.r area, and against whom charges of brutality, violence, or aggression are recorded, be also killed. This order will apply equally to R.I.C. officers. By order, Chief of Staff.” TERRORISING LOYALISTS. The following proclamations will show how the Sinn Feiners are endeavouring to terrorise the loyalists in Ireland:—“Whereas the Irish republic has declared war on England, we hereby give notice that anyone guilty of treasonable conspiracy will be shot without warning as a traitor to the republic. —Signed on behalf of the aforesaid republic. God Save Ireland.” “Headquarters, Dublin.—Whereas the Irish republic has declared war on England, we hereby warn all enemies of Sinn Fein who in any way assist the enemy or obstruct the soldiers of the said republic, that they are traitors to their country, and, therefore, liable to be shot without warning. By order of the Irish Republic.—To all whom it may concern. Long live the republic.”
