Dead Sweet, Ring Lupin, Tinokaha, and Oak Abbey all looked like winners over the last 50 yards, the judge declaring in favour of Dead Sweet, with Oak Abbey and Tinokaha a dead heat for second. Goldplane scored an overdue win in the Welter at Rotorua, just getting up in time to beat the Australian-bred Besant by a head. Queen Abbey hopped out smartly in the final event at Rotorua and lasted long enough to win from Elsie Aroha, who should not be long in getting on the winning list.
