CLUTHA RIVER BOARD.
A meeting of the Clut.ha River Board was held at Balclutha on Monday. The finance report showed freight earned for November £196 17s 3d, for December £149 7s—total, £316 4s 3d. The expenditure in the steamer running for the same period was £404 13s 4d, showing a deficit of £SO 9s Id. The receipts since last meeting were: —Freights, £990 5s 3d; interest. £24; Government subsidy Glut ha boiler explosion, £4OO; —total, £614 5s 3d. Freights outstanding amounted to £527 3s fed, of which £6B 4s 2d was owing by' the Railways, and £458 19s 4d by' other clients. The accounts passed for payment were: Clyde— wages £278 9s 9d, coal £lOl 11s 2d, repairs and maintenance £l9 19s 4d, miscellaneous £2 13s Id; Clutha repairs and renewals, £1491 5s 2d; secretary (two months), £25; cook-shed, £9; advertising and stationery, £5 5s 4d; sundry accounts, £2 15s ; —total, £2935 19s. Plus members’ travelling expenses (£l4 19s), to be passed at the meeting. The secretary was instructed to take steps to have outstanding accounts reduced substantially as soon as possible. —The report was adopted.
