NEW CHURCH AT MACANDREW’S BAY.
For some considerable lime the residents of Macandrew’s Bay have felt the .need for a place of worship. With this end in view they have worked diligently to give practical expression to this desire, and on Sunday this crowning effort to their labours was marked by the opening of the new Presbyterian Church. The new church is a substantially built wooden edifice of Gothic design, with porch, vestry, and belfry to harmonise with the remainder of the structure. The new bell is the gift of a friend of the congregation. The interior is neatly finished in figured red pine with panelled walls. The pulpit adds to the appearance by a neat display of panels and figured pine railing. Accommodation is provided for the choir near the pulpit. The church occupies a prominent position in the centre of the township, its tall spire standing out as a permanent landmark, giving evidence of the forward spirit of the residents. Thanks to the generosity of friends and members, the church was opened practically free of debt, and the pastor, the Rev. G. M'Donald, is justly proud of this evidence of the progress in the North-East Harbour portion of tile parish. Professor Davies formally dedicated the new church building at the morning service and in the evening Profesor Davies officiated.
