ADDINGTON MARKET. CHEISTCHURCH, April 7. At Addington market the yarding of all classes of stock was smaller than last week. Except in lambs, values in nearly all sections showed a decline on recent rates, though for the best quality of fat etock it was good. Buyers, however, were .few, and secondary stock sold poorly. Store Sheep.—The yarding was about 33 per cent, less than at the preceding sales. Competition was lifeless, and though the sale improved slightly values were below recent rates. The dry weather was a factor in the slack demand. Forward lambs, 19s 6d to 25s 8d; ordinary lambs, 14s 6d to 19s; cull lambs' 8s to 13s 9d; ewe lambs, to 245; good twotooth ewes, to 32s 6d; ordinary two-tooUi ewes, 23s to 30s; good four and six-tooth ewes, to 37s 6d; low-conditioned, 19s to 24s 6d; failing-mouthed ewes, 16s to 22s- soundmouthed ewes, 21s 6d to 28s 6d; four, six and eight-tooth wethers, 25s 6d to 295; two-tooth wethers, 23s to 275. Pat Lambs.—There were 4400 yarded, compared with 3100 the preceding week.—Except for prime lambs, there was a distinct drop in values, representing from 2s to 2s 6d per head. SOUTHLAND MARKETS. (FaoM Ocb Own CoHßuspoNDasT.) INVEECABGILIv, April 10. Owing to the Easter holidays only one etock sale has been held since last report. This sale- was at Otautau on Friday, when eheep values were somewhat in advance of those at previous sales. The market* for store sheep shows an upward tendency, but until further sales are held it c'annot be taken as a reliable gauge of the market. All other classes of stock are on a par with previous sales, and prices quoted last week are similar to this- week's values. OAMAKU MARKETS. (From Ode Own Correspondent.) OAMARTJ, April 10. The stock market has not been busy in respect to private sales of sheep, brokers' time being largely occupied with clearing sales, of which there have been an unusual number during the week. At these twotooth ewes brought from 26s 6d to 28s; mixed four, six, a.nd eight-tooth ewes, 255; mixed six and eight-tooth e%ves, 25s lOd; and store wethers from 223 to 235. At a. sale of surplus sheep from the Waiiangi Estate, held at Duntroon on Tuesday, sis and eight-tooth half bred ewes realised 26s 8d: six and eight-tooth quarterbred ewes, 26s Id; six and eight-tooth merino ewes, 25s lid; sound-mouth crossbred ewes, 2-is id; crossbred wethers, 25s 6d; and half bred wethers, 25s 4cf. Sales by private treaty were few, and were made at the following prices: Two-tooth ewes, from 26s 6d to 335, according to quality; four-tooth ewes, 31s 6d; four, six, and eight-tooth ewes. 32s 6d; good mixed six and eight-tooth ewes, 31&. 6d; fat and forward lambs, 22s 6d. Growers are firm holders at prices above what buyers are prepared to give at present, with the result that sales are more difficult to effect. Sparrowbills and other short oats are in strong demand for feeding purposes owing to the shortage of fowl wheat. We quote: Prime milling, 5s 2d to 5s 3d; good to best feed, 4s 10c! to ss; medium and inferior, from 4s 6d per bushel (sacks extra;). Wheat: All offering is being accepted by millers at maximum Government rates. Fowl wheat is pfactiealy unprocurable, and keenly sought af tex\ Potatoes: The market at Easter time was barely supplied, but increased supplies have since been coming forward, and the market is not as firm. Best freshly-dug lines are in most demand. Medium and faulty lines are not in favour with buyers. We quote: Best freshly-dug lines, to £8 10s; medium to good, £7 to £8 per ton (sacks in). Chaff: The market of late has been barely supplied, the quantity * arriving beins insufficient to fill requirements, with the result that all coming forward has met with keen demand at prices in. advance of late - rates. We quote: oaten sheaf, to £8 10s; good, £8 to £8 ss; medium, £7 5s to £7 15s per ton (sacks extra). Donald Reid and Co. report as follows: We had our weeky sale of grain and produce at our stores to-day, when prices ruled as under:—Oats: The market has not materially changed since our last report. Offerings from the country are not large, and farmers are firm in'their ideas of value, which are slightly above those of shippers, and consequently the volum>? of business is small. We quote: Prime milling, 5s 3d; "A" grade Gartons, 5s 2d; good to best feod, 4s lOd to ss, all ex store (sacks extra). "Wheat: All offerings are -readily taken up by millers at Government prices. Chaff: Arrivals from "the country continue small, and as there are no stocks in store, prices are firm for prim© quality, at. £8 10s; good, £8 to £8 ss, ex, store (sacks extra). "New Zealand hemp market is quiet, and prices are unchanged. Sellers quote high point, on spot, £64; fair. £59. The Anglo-French disagreement over the occupation of Germany has demoralised the foreign exchanges. On Paris £1 is> quoted at 65J francs; on Italy at 98£ lira,—A. and N.Z. Cable. DOMINION RUBBER COMPANY. The Dominion Rubber Company reports that the March tapping waa 24,8561 b. The proceeds of the December rubber amounted to £2370. The present price is 2s 3£d.
