NO. 3 AMBULANCE

MEMORIAL TABLET UNVEILED. On Sunday morning at the Cathedral the tablet to toe memory,'-ui l\o. o Ambulance Corps was formally unveiled. The service was most appropriate; Psalm 51 was sung by the choir and the prayers were taken by Canon Nevill throughout. The sermo* was preached by Bishop Nevill, who tools as his subject the fact that all through history- of mankind, and especially in the" Bible, we were shown how man brought. his inevitable punishment on himself by forgetting God in his prosperity; thai equally inevitably he was judged, not by his wrong-doing, but by his surroundings, his opportunities, tho chances that wer< offered to him of -choosing between right and wrong. In conclusion Bishop NeviU said that there were many among our own people who at the outbreak of war took their stand on the side of God against the godless wrongdoing of an overweening race. Consciously or unconsciously they chose the side of right; soldiers, sailors, ambulance, men, Red Cross nurses; and very many off them laid down their lives in doing their duty to God and their country. After the blessing the procession, headed by tho Red Cross nurses, proceeded dowrt the side aisle singing the hymn "Lead Ul Heavenly Father, Lea,d Us." The tablet had been erected in the Baptistry, next to that of Lieutenant Williams, and was covered with the New" Zealand battle hag, presented by the Rev. Hoani Parata, which had gone with him through all the French and Gallipoli campaigns. Colonel Robinson, G. 5.0., on behalf of the Officer Commanding the District, then unveiled the memorial after Bishop Nevill had said two Collects. Among those who were present were the Mayor (Mr W. Begg), Lieutenant colonel Hardie Neil, Dr BL Lindo Ferguson, C.M.G., Lieutenant-colonel Pickerill, Colonel Faulkner, Majqr White, N.Z.E..
