WAIKAIA.
June 2. —Heavy showers of snow covered the country last Monday, but soon melted on the. low levels. The mountains." and ranges have a deep mantle of snow. Showers of rain melted part, causing the Mataura ■River to rise. The river overflowed in many places, stretching across the road, and on Thursday, motor cars were unable to get through from Waikaia. -, Meetings.—On Friday, May 30, Miss Cairns held 1 successful afternoon and evening meetings in the Presbyterian Sunday School. At each meeting there was a good attendance, and all appreciated Miss Cairns's instructions. Church Services.—During the month of May Messrs M'Master and Kinmont (students from Dunedin) and the Rev. Mr M'Ra© have officiated at the Presbyterian Church. Their services were very highly enjoyed. Yesterday Rev. Mr Walker (Riversdale) preached.
