HARRIERS.
The. Caversham Harriers ran from Concord School. Paper was dispensed with and the trail led over the hills till the Green Island lagoon was reached. Skirting the lagoon the pack then took the main road tnrough Green island to liurnside, and then up the hill and back to the school. The St. Kilda Harriers held their one mile and a-half novice race from Wesley Hail. Rosult:— W. Perry (scratch) 1, C Leotfler (12sec) 2, Eccles (ssec) 3. Time, Bmm. I'ho members afterwards held a social evening in Wesley {loll, where an enjoyable evening- was spent. The Anglican Harriers ran from St. Peter's Church, Gargill road. Th© trail led over the hills into Burnside, across th© railway line, and up to the southern reservoir, then into the Kaikorai Valley, and finally ascended tho hill to Lookout Point, thenco following the road home. In the lan home for the points competition Aitken came first and M*Queen second. The club afterwards spent a pleasant social evening as guests of the young ladies of tho parish. Out of some 17 entries received for the Pacifio Club's one mile and a-half novice handicap, which was hold at Forbury Park on Saturday, only seven members faced the starter. The competitors were got away in good time, and J. Ritchie (12sec) immediately went out and quickly assumed the lead before the stand was reached. As a result of this the scratch man (H. Guy) had to exert himself to tho utmost to. catch the leader, which he did before the first halfmile was passed. At this stage it was apparent to the onlookers that tho race would bo decided between Ritchie and Guy, as the rest of the field were well behind. After
passing the stand the second time Guy showed signs of being unable to keep up with the pace that Ritchie was setting, and in th© back straight the scratch man began to fall back. Ritchie, who had run a welljudged race throughout, then came on with a sprint and won by about 40 yards from Guy, who beat Esquilant by about 100 yards. Result:—J. Ritchie (12sec) 1, H. Guy (scratch) 2, H. Esquilant (20sec) 3. Time, Bmin 35sec.
The Civil Service Harriers had a good muster at the Wakari School. Paper was dispensed with, and the pack followed the Taieri road to Ashburn Hall, thence across country and out on >''"■ TV>iori road near the Black Bridge. The pack followed the road home, and from the top of the hill, which is about 2£ miles, th© run home was made.
