AUSTRALIAN SOLDIERS IN "* ENGLAND. Playing Middlesex at Lords, tho Australians, after losing Kelleway and Taylor for three runs, made 370. Collins compiled 1P.7 rvns, Murray 91, Stirling 57, Willis 31, and Long (not out) 14. Middlesex made 408 runs. Hendren compiled 135. Warner collapsed after a long drive, and was carried off the field. On resuming play ho reached a century and retired.

The Australians' second Innings realised 235 runs (Collins 64,_ Kelleway 52). Middlesex, in tho second innings, realised 146 for four pickets, Hendren mailing 63. The

match, which ."was unfinished, was declared drawn.

In the cricket match. A.I.F. v. Oxford, Oxford in the first innings scored 152. Kelfeway took seven wickets for 47 runs. The Australians, in their first innings, lost four wioke'ts for 241 runs; Taylor 104, Murray 74. Australia declared the innings closed with 391 for eight wickets (Murray 133, Kelleway 60). In their second innings Oxford lost four wicketa for 247 runs. The match was drawn. Eight thousand people, including General Birdwood, attended the match Australia v. Surrey at the Oval. The Australians mad© 230 (Oollins 58, Willis 52, Stirling 44, Lampard 20, and Gregory 20 not out). Surrey have lost two wickets for 122 (Hobbs 66 not out). t The first round of the county cricket resulted: —Surrey (Hobbs 64 and 68) beat Somerset; Nottinghamshire (George Gunn 116) drew with Middlesex.
