MILLER'S FLAT.
April 14. —The.dry weather which had so long continued, although favourable for harvest operations, was a great N handicap on the growth of grass and turnips for winter but last week there was a splendid fall of heavy, soaking rain, and, although it came rather late, it may give the grass another start if early frosts do not .set in. Thrashing .is now in full swing, and give satisfactory results. Referendum —The high tension of excitement caused by the prohibition, and liquor referendum has now subsided, and both parties now he low with bated breath To know the results of the soldiers and_ sailors' votes, which will decide the question one way or another —at least, for the present. Peace Celebrations.—After the heavy drain the var has made on patriotic generosity of -the Miller's Flat people, they have still liberally subscribed towards the peaco"_ celebrations. I 'Understand the subscriptions will exceed £IOO. The committee has drawn up an interesting and entertaining programme. Fruit.—So far as I can learn the fruit crop, at least in .quantity, is not up *o the average, although the quality is said to be good.
