April 14. —The -weather during the past jweek has,.been very changeable, sunshine and rain alternating. Collie Dog Trials. —The sixth annual trials were held at Waikaia last Tuesday and Wednesday. :, Though there' were not so many entries as in previous years, good , work was done, by those competing] Mr -A. J. Cameron (Weridonside) lent, the sheep ' for the occasion. Mr D. Pringle officiated &s judge. The': first , ; day, there was .- a Very large .attendance.,'but Wednesday proved so stormy that very few ventured out. The, winners were•:— Mr M'Crostie's Clip, Mr G. Perkins's Gyp; -Maiden—M. 2. „ ■ x- . Roll of. Honour.—The following soldiers had made the supreme sacrifice in the great war:—Privates Dante, F, Bushejl. 'Frank Milne, Thomas Mitchell, Richard M'lvor, Arthur Redditt, John Taylor. . Obituary.—Waikaia residents were sorry to learn..of the • death of an old resident in the person of Mrs E. Vial, who died recently "at Lawrence. Mrs Vial was highly respected throughout the district, and had formerly" lived about 40 years here. The body was brought from Lawrence to Waikaia, where-, it was interred on the 9th. . The Rev. W. Hain officiated, and many old residents attended the funerah The deceased leaves five sons, five daughters, and 31 grandchildren to mourn their loss.—Mr George Dennis, who has been in bad health . for some months, died at Stafford Hospital, Dunedin, on- April 8. He was the eldest son or Mrs and the late G. and ,was in his forty-sixth year. Mr Dennis married about 16 years ago, and leaves a <■ ; widow, two sons, and a daughter* to mourn their loss.' The remains were conveyed to the Anderson's Bay Cemetery, the funeral taking place on the 'loth.
