EMPLOYMENT OF APPRENTICES.

WANGANUI, April 2. A case of considerable importance to employers was heard in_ the Magistrate's Court, when two engineering firms were proceeded against for employing apprentices at work that did not form part of the fitting and turning trade, thereby failing to teach the apprentice the fitting and turning trade as required by the Wellington district engineers' award. In both cases the boys were compelled to assist a blacksmith. A fine of £1 in each case was imposed.
