THE COMING CONFERENCE. WELLINGTON, January 23. The Locomotive Engineers and Firemen's Conference will open at Wellington on February 5 to consider demands emanating from branches for a more militant proseoution of the campaign to secure improved wages conditions. The delegates will also discuss the proposals which the Minister has indicated he will be prepared to submit to the association. It is stated that before meeting the Minister (the Hon. Mr Herrics) the conference will consider machinery _ for giving effect to a strike. Any suggestions by the Minister for improving loco, men's wages will be carefully , considered, and then submitted to members for final decision.
