PUBLIC FINANCES.

FIGURES FOR EIGHT MONTHS. WELLINGTON, December 19. Particulars furnished by the Hon. Mr Myers (Acting Minister of Finance) of the revenue and expenditure for the eight months ended November 30 show that the principal items of revenue wore:—

The revenue for November was £900,679 , —a decrease of £209,362 on the figures for November, 1917. Tire total expenditure for the eight month* ended November 30 was £11,147,435. In commenting on the figures, Mr Myer* stated that the total revenue this year w«« £1,332,444 in excess of the amount received last year. Nearly all sources of revenue showed a considerable increase. The expenditure out of the ordinary revenue account for the eight months of 1918 showed an increase of £1,751,929 compared with the eight months of last year.. This, of course, was to be accounted! for by increased interest and sinking fund and pension charges.
