. The National Mortgage and Agency Co. report under date February 9:— " Rabbitskins. —The first series of publio sales for the current year was held on tne Bth inst. Seven hundred and sixtynine bales of Now Zealand and Australian were offered, and 653 bales sold under the hammer. The small offerings available included a moderate supply of prime season skins, and a fair proportion of fair to good supplies. There was a good demand from home and export buyers, and values show a further advance on previous sale's quotations. Furriers again have strong support to all suitable graces. New Zealand: Ihree hundred and twenty-four bales _ offered and 258 sold. Fine full-season skins were in active request, and sold at extreme quotations, prices ranging from 65d to 84d per lb. Fair to good gamed about 2d per lb. Low mixed and suckers, gained fully 3d to 4d per lb. Black and silvery were not represented in quality. Australian and Tasmanian: Melbourne, 80 bales; Sydney, 233 bales; Adelaide, /96 bales; and comprised a few bales of full-season skins, which sold at 2d per lb advance. The moderate 'offering of fair to good winter sold at about 2d per lb over November rates; outgoing kinds and low season sold at fully 3d to 4d per lb advance. " Frozen Rabbits.—The supplies offering at Smithficld continue limited, and, with a keen demand, prices have advanced sharply. There is still a demand by the army authorities for large rabbits. Some New Zealands have been offering and have made excellent prices; but these are now all cleared. " Butter.—Sinco our last report the market for colonial butter has fluctuated considerably, but is now very firm. Australian : Owing to heavy supplies about a fortnight ago the market declined considerably, and finest salted went down as low as 186 s; unsalted, 190 s. Since then there has br>cn a reaction, as only one steamer has conW to hand, with „ about 28.000 boxes, and prices have advanced rapidly, and now stand at 202 s for finest salted and 206 s unsalted. New Zealand: Much the same conditions have prevailed for this butter as for Australian. The market declined to 1925; but to-day's quotation shows an advance of almost 20s per cwt. Argentine: There is practically nothing on hand; but an arrival is expected next week. Present quotations are: Danish, 226 s to 230 s per cwt; Argentine (finest salted). 200 s to 2025; Argentine (finest unsalted), 2C4a to 206.5; Australian (finest salted), 200 s to 2025; Australian (finest unsalted), 204 s to 2065; Australian (good to fine salted). 196= to 198 s: .Australian (good to fine unsalted). 200? to 2025; N"W Z-a-lnnd (finest salted). 208 s. to 212.3: New Znaland (finest unsalted), 210 s to 2125; N"W Zealand (good to fine -salted), 204 s to 2065. " Cheese.—-The position as regards Now Zealand choose remains unchanged, and so far the Government have not released any for the ordinary trade.
