PALMERSTON NOTES.

PALMERSTON, April 2. The practice of two persons riding together on a bicyclo was the cause of a nasty accident last week. May Taylor and another girl were "double-banking" down a hill on their way to school, when the bicycle upset throwing May Taylor heavily to the ground. She sustained compound fracture of the arm, while tho other girl got off with some bruises. Two stacks belonging to Mr V. Collins were destroyed by fire on Pai.uvd.ay night. One stack contained oaten sheaves, but the other luckily had been thrashed. The origin of the outbreak is unknown. The alterations to tho school buildings. consisting of a retiring room for tho teaching staff and an office for the" rector, are now complete*!, and should prove very acceptaole additions to the comfort of the -raff during the winter, stoves having been placed fn both room:;. The interior of the buildings has been cither painted or varnished, the only thing lacking to complete the work being' the new desks for Standard [I. room, which have not yet come to hand. A record number of stock was yarded for the monthly sale on Monday, in spite of tho largo gale of sheen held the previous

week. The prices wore somewhat lower than at the last sale, although no bargains were made.
