MEETING OF BOAED OF STUDIES. WELLINGTON, November 7. The second annual meeting of the University Board of Studies was opened to-day, Professor Scgar presiding. \ discussion took place on the question whether the health of school girls suffered by the pressure of studies. Reports were received from the Dunedin Recess Committee and the Secondary Schools Conference, the effect being that the principals of girls' secondary schools did not admit any overpressure that would be likely to be injurious. The board decided to recommend tlio Senate to make a comprehensive investigation. Professor Rankin Brown 8 motion that Latin remain a compulsory subject for theB.A. degree was defeated by 14 votes to 5.
