BLENHEIM, November 8. The Wairau River overflowed at lua Marina and Spring Creek. Serious damage to the crops is feared. Railway communication between Blenheim and Ricton is interrupted, and also the motor service between Blenheim and Nelson.

NEW PLYMOUTH, November 8. Continuous 24 hours' rain and warmth of atmosphere melting the snow on Mount Epmont, flooded tho Waiwakaiho River to an unprecedented degree. Erosion took plaoo on tho east bank of tho river and weakened the eastern end of the ferro-con-crete 10-year-old bridge on the Main road to Waitara, an important traffic structure connecting New Plymouth with extensivo northern districts. At nine o'clock tonight 30ft of the bridgo collapsed, and all traffio was suspended. The Government and local bodies havo, for a considerable time past, been preparing to give protection to the bridge piers by the erection of a barrage just below the bridge to prevent erosion.
