HEAVY RAIN IN NORTH ISLAND. FLOODS IN HAWKE'S BAY. GISBORNE, May 30. Wot weather again set in yesterday, and the total fall for the month is now 17.4-1 inches. While the rivers arc swollen, there is no immediate danger of another flood. A heavy sea is running in the bay, and the Arahura, which arrived from Napier to-day, has not vet been worked. NAPIER, May 30. Heavy rain is falling and all the rivers are in flood. The rainfall for the last 24 hours was 2.10 mches. ORARI, Juno 1. The rainfall registered here for the month of May was 4.56 points. Rain fell on 11 daya, the maximum fait being 2.42 inches, on the 28th. This was the heaviest fall in 24 houra since July 24, 1911, when 3.83 inches fell. The highest reading of the maximum thermometer was 71deg, on the 23rd, and the lowest of the minimum thermometer was 38deg, on the 18th and 19th. The total rainfall for the year to date is 13.35 inches, compared with 7.52 inches for the same period m 1915 and 15.86 niches in 1914. Until the 24-th the month was wonderfully fine and warm. GERALDINE, June 1. The rainfall registered here for the month of May was 4.90 inches. The number of days with rain was 18, and the maximum fall was 2.48 inches, on the 28th. The mean barometer was 29.79 deg; the maximum 30.11 deg, and the minimum 29.36 deg. The mean shade temperature was 44.51dcg. the maximum 65deg, and the minimum 32deg. The mean of "the maximum readings waa 5190 deg, and of the minimum 37.58 deg. The weather generally was fine till last week, which was wet and cold. BUSHEY PAEK, Juno 1. The rainfall recorded here for the month of Mav amounted to 160 points. RANFURLY, June 1. The total rainfall for the month of May was 176 points, which fell on 9 days. The maximum fall was 45 points, on the 27th. The maximum shade temperature was 66dcg, on the 4th and 27th. The minimum tome perature was 16deg on the 26th, and in th« screen 20deg, on the same date.
