COLD MEAT STORAGE
NEW ZEALAND'S ACCUMULATIONS. LONDON, May 30. At the ammal meeting of the Cold Storage and Ice Association, Sir Thomas Mackenzie corrected the erroneous statements in the New Zealand papers that 8,000,000 carcases in New Zealand were waiting shipment. There were really only 2,500,000, and the accumulation was entirely due to the scarcity of tonnage. He hoped the experience would be of value to the frozen meat trade during the war, in that it would induce the British Government to help the development of the association. In view of the probability of Continental nations importing meat after the war, he suggested the holding of a conference to decide what inspection was desirable. He thought the New Zealand system was quite adequate. A member suggested that the British Government be asked for £SOOO for educational research purposes. The matter was referred to the council.
