WELLINGTON NOTES.
(Feoii Our Own Correspondent.) Juno 1. A good contingent of South Island trotters arrived yesterday to take part in tho Wairarapa Trotting Club's meeting on Saturday next. It is understood that O. Emerson, after riding the first day at Dunedin, will come north audi do the Otaki meeting. J. O'Shea was wanted at Otaki, but he has decided to remain at Auckland. Undecided was paid up for at Otaki, but he failed to stand a preparation, and the attempt being made to get a race out of him will probably be abandoned. Client pulled up lame the second day at Wanganui, and will not accompany the other members of the Fordell team to Otaki. Trentham trainer J. W. Lowe is at present spending his annual holiday in Dunedin, Where ho rode as a light-weight in the early 70's. On account of the re-handicap Immensity will probably not bo brought to Otaki. She will make her next appearance at Gisborne. where the stake is good and the company not first-class. A. Goodwin, Mr Frank Armstrong's trainer, leaves for Melbourne to-morrow with Morning, Sleight-of-Hand, and The Hound. The last-named is a full brother to Sir Lethe, who won steeplechases in Australia and the Dominion. Goodwin is talcing Ids two sons with him, and they will ride the horses in their engagements. Goodwin went across to Victoria with the first team of jumpers sent across by the late Mr William Douglas. The team consisted of Kapo, Jupiter, Montrose, and The Peer. Mr lan Duncan, of tho Waikanao stud, sent 17 mares across for the Sydney Easter sales. They were all disposed of except I-listoriette and Caller Ou, who were brought back by this week's boat. Balboa, the most successful four-year-old in the Dominion this season, won only one race. Rorke's Drift, who has won eight races, is only a few hundreds behind Mr Lowry'i horse. Trooper R. Cooper, owner of Chillies, left with the Thirteenth Reinforcements.
