THE NORTH POLE.

LONDON, November 1. Stefansson lias cabled to the Dally Chronicle from Banksland, stating that the North Star sailed on August 4, in command of Captain Muhins, for South Australia, its ultimate destination being Prince Patrick or Melville Island, via Cape Prince Alfred. The Polar Bear is also about to sail. Stefansson is commanding the northern expedition with 100 dogs and the best equipment since that of the Karluk. He should finish the exploration of the ice westward of meridian 145, and expects to return south in 1916.
