FIRES.
AUCKLAND, July 16. Messrs Tackle and Company’s timber mill, situated in Spring street, Remuera, was destroyed by tiro at midnight. The building and" plant destroyed are insured for £977 in tho Liverpool and London and Globe, and the same office holds a risk of £675 on a portion of the premises which were only slightly damaged. CHRISTCHURCH. July 15. A fire yesterday evening caused considerable damage in a two-storey building in Lichfield street, owned by Mr K. F. England. The flames swept the top floor, which was used as a softgoods warehouse by Messrs Archibald Clark and Sons (Ltd.), and completely destroyed tao largo stock,
which was insured for £ISOO in the New Zealand Office and £ISOO in the South British. The stock on the ground floor, owned by Messrs Ford and Mira ms, waa also damaged.
