PALMERSTON N., June 21. The twelfth annual National Dairy Show of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Asscociation will commence to-morrow. The fixture is creating a deal of interest, and there is a large influx of visitors to town. The entries this year show an increase on last year’s figures, being 1904, as against 1870 last year. The judging was commenced to-day, with the following results : Factory butter championship—Awahuri (Palmerston), 944 points, 1; RangiwahiaRuahino and Taieri and Peninsula, 94 points, 2; Ballancc-Konini, 93 points, 3. Challenge cup, presented by New Zealand Shipping Company, for highest points for coloured or white cheese—Hawera (954 points). BUTTER AND CHEESE MARKET. The National Mortgage and Agency Company has received a cablegram from Messrs Mills and Sparrow, London, advising that the butter market is firm, the price being 140 s to 1425, and that the cheese market is steady, quotations being 92s to 945.
DUNEDIN HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
y Tire thirty-fourth annual meeting of tho Dunedin Horticultural Society was held on tho 15th in the office of Mr R. Hanning (secretary). The sympathies of the society were extended to Mr T. K. Sidey, M.P., in tho death of his father. The following office-hearers were elected: President. Mr B. S. Irwin; vice-presidents— Messrs R. R. Moss, T. Scott, W. Tannock, D. Watt, and 11. T. Tvovena; treasurer. Mr George J. Errington; committee—Messrs W. M. Beal, E. E Clowes. J. Fleming, R. Fountain. E. A. Hamel, J. P. Johnson, F. W. Joseph, A. R. Low, William M‘Laron, James Nelson, R. Nichol, W. A. Notman, J. H. Oliver, T.K. Sidey, M.P., W. J. Robinson, E. W Walden. A. Moritzson. R. R. Cameron, Mesdames Smith, Trevena, Misses Wall, Rennie, Hislop, and Crow; auditor, Mr J. Monerieff. It was decided that it bo a recommendation to the incoming committee that the value of tho prizes bo very considerably rc-
flucod both in regard to amateur and open classes. It was resolved that it be a recommendation to the incoming committee that four shows be_ held next year. A motion that the committee be recommended to hold one day shows was lost. Mr Clowes expressed the indebtedness of members to Messrs Irwin, Walden, and M'Culloch for the encouragement given to exhibitors. of fruit at the shows.
