CHESS.

The handicap tournament at present in progress at the Otago Chess Club is exciting a great deal of interest. At present Boreham and Stenhouso are loading, each player having lost two and drawn one game. The junior championship is not finite so far advanced, but Bruton has made a good start in this with five wins to his credit. There is a_ likelihood of a telegraph match between junior members of the Otago and Canterbury Chess Clubs being played shortly.
