fl'uou Oub Own Correspondent I June 18. Your correspondent understands that the winter meeting at Trentham will bo “dry,” in deference to the wishes of the Defence Department. The nominations received for the winter meeting of the Wellington Racing Club are very satisfactory. Tim Doolan looks remarkably well treated in the V.R.O. Grand National Steeplechase with 10.10. Ho was handicapped at 11.9 when he fell on the concluding day of the C.11.C. Grand National meeting. It was reported that Medallist had gone into a Trentham stable. Tour correspondent understands that the gelding has been shinned to Blenheim, where his owner
resides. The Canterbury trainer, M. Edwards, i? taking three horses to the Waikato trotting meeting, to bo hold on the 30th lust. The Halt Vail Icy Trotting Club is holding a patriotic meeting on the same dale. 6. Emerson, the successful light-weight, was a passenger for Sydney to-d iv. It is stated he will » ido as a free lance next season. Who will do Mr Greenwood's riding?
The Stepniak horse Odessa was taken, up a couple of months ago, but failed to stand, and will do stud duty on his owner’s station. One morning last week Mount Victoria was put at the schooling hurdles at Trentham, nut did not shape too well. Mr G. L. Stead’s English horse Nassau is aboard the R emu era, due to arrive here
on Monday. Mr Stead is at present in Melbourne with bis jumpers. The Wanganui Cup winner, Master Lupin, is the latest addition to the ranks of hurdlers up this way. His dam (St. Cyra) was a good hurdle performer. The Tetono trotting trainer, D. Nyhan, has engaged three of his team at the Waikato meeting on the 26th inst.
