SYDNEY", June 11. The evidence of colliery mechanics in the Wages Board case discloses that the restrictions placed upon the export of Newcastle coal are severely affecting trade. Japan has secured the United States Government contract for the Philippine Islands, and Java the railways contract, both having been previously held by Newcastle, while the Chilian railways are now obtaining supplies from their own mines. Another cause of slackness is a shortage of explosives.
