Hcllyer to transfer education lease of section 5, block VII, Glcnornaru, to Mr James Lee, Te Houka, was approved, subject to production of documents and payment of fees; and a transfer of 1.p., sections 5,8, and 9, block 111, Lower Hawea, 557 a 2r 27p, Fanny Matilda Kingan to Mr James Rae, was approved, subject to receipt of forms. Mr W. E. Aubrey applied at the previous meeting; to transfer section 9, block VI, Dunback, to Mrs N. E. Hocking, and the matter was held over to give the parties an opportunity to supply further particulars. Mr Hocking appeared yesterday and explained the facts, after which the transfer was approved.—A transfer of section 1 of 16, block 111, Hawkcsbury, held under education lease by the trustees in the estate of the late Mr Valentine, to Mr James Anderson Walker. Flag Swamp, was approved, subject to production of documents. ■»
The following applications were declined: L.i.p. section 6, block XIII, Pomahaka, 281 acres 34 poles, Hr Thos. Erskinc to Mr Wm. Johnston (transferee not eligible) ; l.i.p, section 6a, Plunket Settlement, 748 acres 1 rood 33 poles, Mr Arthur Boyce to Mr Edward Stokes (transferee not eligible); l.i.p, section 14, block XIII, Pomahaka Downs Estate, 250 acres 3 roods, Mr Thos. H. Erskine to Mr William Johnston (transferee not eligible). At _ the previous meeting Mrs M. J. ityPNair, who drew pastoral run 201 a, Omarama, at the recent ballot, applied to take Mr Hector Gibson as a partner. The board refused its consent and resolved to call on the lessee to explain the statements made in her sworn declaration when applying for the land. Yesterday the board accepted Mrs M‘Nair’s explanation as satisfactory, and adhered to its decision in regard to the partnership.
''An application for sections 4a and sa, Bellamy Settlement (r. 1.), 84 acres 32 poles, by Mr Henry F. Christie, was approved. Messrs Dalgety and Co., on behalf of Mrs Susannah Roberts, applied for an extension of 12 months at present rental of lease of sections 9, 10, 12, and part 11, block XI, Inohclutha district.—Approved. Mr Lewis Cameron applied to purchase an estimated area of 20 acres of unsurveycd land on Galloway Station, in Leaning' Rock district. Part of the land applied for was held by the applicant as residence areas. —Held over pending completion of subdivision. Mr William Ryan applied for lease of section 8, block XXVII, _ town of Havelock, granted at the previous meeting for a term of 21 years at 5s per year under section 8 (5) of “ The Public Bodies Leases Act, 1908.” —The board confirmed its special resolution. '
The Warden reported that there was no objection from a mining point of view to the application of Mr John Gordon for a renewable lease over part_ of section 2, block XIII, Greonvale district (52 acres).— It was resolved to recommend under section 138 on renewable lease for Minister’s approvel; capital value £4 per acre. Mr Samuel M'Olelland Winter, lessee of section 25a, Greenfield Settlement,_ applied for a grazing license over adjoining section 28a, an ungazetted education reserve containing 10 acres 1 rood 19 poles.—The board approved of a license for five years at 5s per acre per annum.
It was rceolved to call for tenders for month-to-month lease of 885 acres, part of afforestation reserve, Omarama, in two lots.
Mr A. J. Mathceon applied for a grazing license over about 45 acres of land on German Creek, between sections 24 and 29, block Yl, Tuapeka East district, and allotment 2a, Waitahuna settlement, No. 2. — The board approved of a miscellaneous license at £3 5s per annum, subject to determination at any time in the event of a shortage of water in the Waitahuna settlement.
Mr Alexander Reid applied for a better title to sections 12 and 13, block VI, and 84 and 85, block VIII, Leaning Rock district, containing 744 acres 3r 14p. The sections had been held since July 1, 1912, by the applicant under a ycar-to-ycar grazing license, at a rental of 9d per acre per annum. —Referred to ranger for a report. Mrs Elsie Dennison, of Hawea Flat, applied for an occupation lease over about 13 acres of land in block 11, Wakefield district, between the railway reserve, fronting section 5, and the Clu.tha River. —The application was declined, land to be offered in three lots under renewable lease.

The Under Secretary reported that the
Governor had, in pursuance of section 56 of “ The Laud Laws Amendment Act, 1913,” determined that the pastoral runs, reported on by the Classification Commissioners as unsuitable for subdivision should be again let for pastoral purposes. The ranger had been instructed to make the necessary valuations.—Received. It was resolved that Ranger Atkinson and Mr G. Livingstone bo appointed to make valuations of the Maraweka sub-division.
Mrs 0. Murray, whose interest in sections 17, 18, 19, etc., blocks IX and IV, Rankleburn and Glenkenich, was sold to Mr D. A. Preston under power of sale, submitted a statement of her position for consideration. —It was resolved that the board had no jurisdiction in the matter.
Mr Thomas Craigie applied for permission to lime an area of 15 acres in his lease of sections 1 of 19, 2 of 19, and 2 of 30, block I, Table Hill district, to the extent of two tons per acre, with a view to such action being recognised as “ improvements ” on the expiry of the lease. —Approved, subject to valuation at expiry. Messrs D. and W. A. Blair, who signed a petition regarding the offering for sale of 1400 acres in Tuapeka West, wrote asking to have their names removed from the petition. —Received.
Mrs L. A. Brown applied for exemption from residence on section 7a, Waitahuna Settlement, selected on March 26, 1915. —Declined.
Mr John French, lessee of allotment 23, Kauroo Hill Settlement, applied for permission to dispose of the “shearers ancl.station hands’ dwelling” on the allotment. —Approved. subject to payment of valuation. Mr P. R. Sargood applied to have hia license over area opposite sections 27, 28, block IX, town of Pembroke, cancelled.— License cancelled.
Mr William Thomas applied for exemption from residence for two years on section 11a, Otckaiko Settlement, while on active service, and Mr A. K. Campbell for exemption from residence and improvement conditions on section 42, block IV, Glenomaru. —Both applications were approved. Mr Jas. A. Davidson was granted exemption from residence on r.l. 207 while absent on active service; and Mr J. Calling from residence on section 17, block XII, Tarras.
