SHIPWRECKED MARINERS.
A ROUGH EXPERIENCE. AUCKLAND, June 2,
Captain Struk and the crew of the Norwegian barque Fram, which was wrecked at Malden Island on February 24, arrived by the Talune to-day. After her moorings were carried away only half fin hour elapsed before the vessel went to pieces. The' captain and crew seized lifebelts and jumped overboard, leaving everything, even ■ the ship’s papers, so perilous was their position. They were buffeted in the surf a good deal, but no one was hurt.
The barque Fram was an iron, vessel of 758 tons, and owned by A. J. Freyberg, of Sandcfjord, Norway. The vessel was last in the dominion i a October, 1912, when she left to load "intno at Malden Island. When the vessel Icit Auckland, the port of departure, the following composed the crew: Anton Struk, master; Carl Gundessen, first mate; K. Antonscn, second mate; Carl L. Axelsen, cook; J. K. Martinson, Frederick I. Billington, J. B. Okfsen, Anders Jacobsen, and John Stowers, %blo seamen; N. Haller, C, Edwards, and R. Jones, ordinary seamen. Of these, Axelsen, Haller, Edwards, and Jones signed on at Auckland.
