MOSGIEL BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of tho Moegiel Borough Council was held on tho sth, there being- present the Mayor (Mr A. F. Quelch), and Crs Aitken, Oheyne, Muirhead, Seaton, Brown, Callander, Williams, M’Leod, and Leith. CORRESPONDENCE. The Huntly Relief Committee (Wellington) wrote stating that a national fund had been opened in the interests of the widows and orphans of those killed in the recent mining disaster. It was hoped that the council would contribute, and for that purpose the committee enclosed a subscription list.—On the motion of Gr Chcyno, it was resolved to donate the sum of £5 to the fund. REPORTS. The Works Committee reported that during the past month ordinary surface work had been attended to, and newly-laid metal had been raked in. Tho septic tank had been cleaned out, and everything at tho reservoir was in good order.—Adopted. Tho Finance Committee reported that the receipts during the past month had amounted to £156 4s 6d, and tho expenditure to £96 Ss Bd. Accounts amounting to the latter sum were recommended for payment.— Adopted. Reports from tho inspector of works and tile ranger were received. GENERAL. On the motion of Cr Oheyne, it was decided to write to the Valuation Department asking- when it was proposed to carry out tho revaluation of the borough, which tho department had promised to carry out in September.
